What is the housekeeping room inspection form template?

A housekeeping room inspection is the last check before a guest walks in. This checklist lets a supervisor go through the bedroom, bathroom and amenities item by item, pass or fail each one, record maintenance issues and lost property, and decide whether the room is released, touched up, sent back for a re-clean or put out of order.

Each inspection names the room attendant, so it doubles as a fair, specific feedback tool: instead of 'the room wasn't right', the attendant sees exactly which items failed, the notes and any photos. Maintenance issues are ticked from a list, with a required description whenever anything other than None found is chosen.

Every inspection is saved as a signed PDF in your FileIt vault, and the Responses table lets you look at results by attendant, room or date.

The housekeeping room inspection form, page by page

1 Room details

Room number and type, date and time, the inspector and the room attendant, and the type of clean — departure, stayover, deep clean or vacant ready check.

2 Bedroom & bathroom

Eight bedroom items — bed and linen, floors, dusting, mirrors, curtains and windows, wardrobe and safe, bins, smell — and seven bathroom items, each Pass, Fail or N/A. A notes box records what needs re-doing.

3 Amenities & maintenance

A grid for toiletries, tea and coffee, water, minibar, hairdryer, iron, hangers, guest information and stationery. Maintenance issues is required — None found, or one or more issues such as lighting, TV, heating or air-conditioning, taps, drains, furniture, walls, locks or windows — with a required description and whether it's been logged. Lost property found asks for the item and where it was. Up to five photos.

4 Result

An overall star rating, then the result: pass, pass after touch-up, fail for re-clean (with the time it's due by) or out of order. Feedback for the attendant and the inspector's signature finish the inspection.

Tips for a better housekeeping room inspection form

  • Look at the room from the doorway first, as a guest would
  • Check the places guests notice: under the bed, the shower drain, the kettle
  • Be specific in feedback — name the item and what was wrong
  • Log maintenance issues straight away so the room isn't blocked for longer than needed
  • Hand in lost property through your normal process the same day
  • Share good results with attendants as well as failures
