FileIt started with a familiar failure: a family of five, documents spread across Dropbox, email attachments, and a drawer — and renewals discovered only after they'd lapsed. A passport at the airport counter. An insurance policy after the accident. There was never a trigger.
FileIt is a document vault with expiry tracking at its core. You upload the important documents you're responsible for — your own, your family's, your employees' — into clean, simple folders; FileIt reads each one, detects the type and the owner, extracts the expiry date, and schedules reminders on the timeline you choose — by default 45, 30, 15, 7 and 1 day before. Everything it detects is a suggestion; you can change any field.
FileIt never submits, files, or renews anything on your behalf, and never shares your documents. It's the trigger you were missing — the renewing stays yours.
