What is UDK 390 — Power of attorney for family benefits?

UDK 390 is Udbetaling Danmark's power of attorney (fuldmagt) for family benefits. With it you name a representative — a partner, relative, friend, adviser or a company — who can deal with Udbetaling Danmark, Familieydelse about your cases. It covers all your family-benefit cases, including child support (børnebidrag), child allowance (børnetilskud) and the child and youth benefit (børne- og ungeydelse).

You choose between two levels. An unlimited power of attorney lets the representative act for you and receive all your letters: apply for family benefits, report changes that affect your benefit, complain and discuss your case. A limited power of attorney only lets them discuss your case with Udbetaling Danmark, while you keep handling it and receiving the letters. The form also points to a separate digital power of attorney, given with MitID on borger.dk, for the self-service solution.

1 Dine oplysninger (your information)

Your name, CPR number, address and phone number. You are the person giving the power of attorney (fuldmagtsgiver). FileIt splits your CPR number into the six and four boxes around the dash.

Tick one. Ubegrænset fuldmagt (unlimited): the representative may act for you in the case and receive all your letters — for example apply for family benefits, report changes that affect your benefit, complain and discuss your case with Udbetaling Danmark.

Begrænset fuldmagt (limited): the representative may only discuss your case with Udbetaling Danmark, Familieydelse. You still look after your own interests and keep receiving all letters. If you want to give other rights, the form asks you to contact Udbetaling Danmark.

4 Fuldmagt til selvbetjening (digital power of attorney)

Information only: you can also give a digital power of attorney for the family-benefits self-service solution with MitID, or the person can request one from you. That is done on borger.dk, not on this form.

5 Dato og underskrift (date and signature)

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Having the representative sign instead of you. Only the person giving the power of attorney signs.
  • Choosing 'limited' when the representative needs to apply or report changes for you — limited only allows discussing your case.
  • Typing a CPR number wrongly. The first six digits are the date of birth (DDMMYY); FileIt checks that they form a real date.
  • Forgetting that a new power of attorney replaces any earlier one.
  • Using this form for pension, housing benefit or other areas. It covers family benefits only; Udbetaling Danmark has separate power-of-attorney forms for other benefits (for example UDK 290 for pension).
