What is UDK 305 — Child allowance for single parents?
UDK 305 is Udbetaling Danmark's Danish-language form 'Søg om børnetilskud til enlige' — the application for child allowance for single parents. Børnetilskud til enlige covers the ordinary child allowance (ordinært børnetilskud) and the extra child allowance (ekstra børnetilskud) that Denmark pays a parent who supports a child alone. It is a separate benefit from the general child and youth benefit (børne- og ungeydelse) that most families receive.
The form is short but the conditions behind it are strict. You must be a single parent (enlig forsørger): not married, and not living in a marriage-like relationship with the child's other parent or anyone else. The declaration on page 2 explains what counts as a shared household, says you must confirm every year that you are still single, and warns that wrong or incomplete information can lead to repayment, a fine or even prison. Udbetaling Danmark asks people to apply digitally on borger.dk where they can — the pink 'Brug den digitale løsning på borger.dk' stamp on the PDF says so, and it doesn't print.
FileIt walks you through UDK 305 in English, with the Danish terms alongside, pre-fills your name from the People in your FileIt vault, checks the CPR numbers and that each child is under 18, and prints everything into Udbetaling Danmark's own PDF — including names with Polish, Romanian or other accented letters that the PDF's own fields can't print. The finished form is saved in your vault. You print it, sign it by hand and post it yourself; FileIt never sends anything to Udbetaling Danmark.

- Declaration, consent, date and signature (Erklæring — Samtykke, dato og underskrift)Applicant
How to fill out UDK 305 — Child allowance for single parents, step by step
1 Dine oplysninger (Your information)
Your name, CPR number, address and phone number. The CPR number goes digit by digit into ten boxes around a printed dash; FileIt splits it for you.
Below the boxes the form carries a bold warning for non-EU/EEA nationals: if your Danish residence permit was granted as a student or PhD student under section 9 i of the Aliens Act, you must not receive public support, and receiving child allowance could put your permit at risk.
2 Dine samlivs-, bopæls- og arbejdsforhold (Relationship, residence and work)
Tick the one description that fits you: unmarried and not cohabiting, unmarried with cohabitation ended, separated or divorced, widow or widower, or married but living apart because of disagreement or because your spouse is in prison or a psychiatric ward under a court order. Then give the date you became a single parent.
Say where you work — in Denmark, abroad, both, or not at all — and where, if abroad. Two yes/no questions follow: whether you have lived or worked in Greenland or the Faroe Islands in the last 10 years (attach documentation if so), and whether you are a refugee with a residence permit under section 7, 8 or 9b of the Aliens Act.
3 Oplysninger om barn/børn (The children)
Up to three rows, one per child: the child's name, CPR number and who has parental custody (forældremyndighed) — father, mother, joint or others. FileIt checks that each CPR number is a real date and that each child is under 18.
The small print under the table matters: children who live with you but whom you don't have custody of, and foster children, are handled by contacting Udbetaling Danmark rather than on this form.
4 Erklæring (Declaration)
Read this page before you sign. You declare that you are the parent of the children, that you are a single parent, that you are not married, and that you don't live in a marriage-like relationship with the other parent or with anyone else — including someone of the same sex. A marriage-like relationship means a shared household where you both contribute, or where one supports the other, for example by sharing fixed costs or the practical work at home.
You also accept that getting married ends the allowance even if you don't live with your spouse, that you must confirm your status once a year, and that you must report every change straight away.
5 Samtykke, dato og underskrift (Consent, date and signature)
By signing you consent to Udbetaling Danmark exchanging information with other authorities, employers, banks and others when needed to handle your case. FileIt fills in the date; you sign by hand in the Underskrift box. Pages 3 to 6 explain your duty to report changes, the data Udbetaling Danmark exchanges, and your rights under data protection law.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying while living with a new partner. Sharing a household in a way that resembles marriage — even without marrying — means you are not a single parent for this allowance.
- Getting married and not reporting it. The declaration says marriage ends the right to the allowance even if you live apart from your spouse.
- Waiting to apply. Payments start at the earliest from the quarter after the one in which the application arrives.
- Leaving out a child's custody tick, or listing a child you don't have custody of — contact Udbetaling Danmark about those children instead.
- Forgetting documentation when you answer yes to the Greenland or Faroe Islands question.
- Not answering the yearly letter asking you to confirm you are still a single parent.
- Posting the form unsigned — the Underskrift box must be signed by hand.
After you fill it out
Print the form from your FileIt vault, check both filled pages, and sign by hand in the Underskrift box on page 2. Post it to Udbetaling Danmark, Kongens Vænge 8, 3400 Hillerød — the 'Sendes til' address printed on the form — with any documentation the form asks for. If you can use MitID, Udbetaling Danmark prefers the digital application on borger.dk.
Keep the filled PDF in your FileIt vault alongside your children's documents, so you know exactly what you declared if Udbetaling Danmark checks your case or you need to report a change.
You have a duty to report changes immediately: the form lists examples such as no longer being a single parent, marrying, a child moving out or spending more time with the other parent, moving in with someone aged 18 or over, taking work or a home abroad, or no longer being covered by Danish social security.
