What is KG 46 — P-Konto-Bescheinigung (Kindergeld)?
A Pfändungsschutzkonto (P-Konto) is a German current account that protects a basic monthly amount from garnishment (Pfändung). Kindergeld and Kinderzuschlag can raise the protected amount, but the bank needs proof. Under § 903 (1) of the Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO), a certificate from the body that pays the benefit is one such proof. KG 46 is how you ask the Familienkasse of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit for that certificate. The current edition is KG 46 - 01.23, Stand April 2023.
The form says the certificate can only be sent to the person who applied for Kindergeld and receives it on their own account, or to a child who receives the Kindergeld diverted (abgezweigt) to their own account by a Familienkasse decision. If your Kindergeld is paid into someone else's account, you only get a confirmation of which account it goes to.
FileIt explains each part of KG 46 in English with the German term alongside, ticks the right boxes and prints your answers onto the official German PDF. Names can be pre-filled from the People records in your vault, and the finished PDF is saved there. FileIt does not send anything to the Familienkasse: you print, sign by hand and send it yourself.
