What is a fireworks display agreement?
A fireworks display agreement divides the safety and permit work between the licensed display company and the client, and sets out what happens if the weather or a permit stops the show.
This template covers the company's licences, date, firing time, show length, site and show design, substitutions for safety, permits and notifications for each side, landowner consent, safety distances and fallout zones set by the operator, the client's duty to keep zones clear with barriers and stewards, the operator's final say on safety, weather decisions and a reserve date, a postponement charge, liability insurance and naming the client, clean-up and a daylight debris search, price, deposit, cancellation and events beyond either party's control. FileIt places the signature, date, job-title and initials boxes for both parties.

Tips before you send it
- Rules on permits, notifications, noise and permitted hours vary widely. Start the permit process early.
- Get the landowner's or venue's written consent before you plan the firing area.
- Walk the site with the client and agree where barriers and stewards go.
- Fire bans can be announced at short notice in dry weather; the template treats them as outside either party's control.

Fireworks display agreement: frequently asked questions
Who decides if the show goes ahead in bad weather?
The display company's lead operator decides on the day, in consultation with the client. The operator can delay, shorten or cancel at any time for safety, and that decision is final.
What if a permit is refused?
The display doesn't go ahead, and the terms for reasons outside either party's control apply: the price is refunded less the deposit and costs already incurred, with an explanation.
Who clears the debris?
The display company makes the firing area safe, removes unfired fireworks, equipment and debris from the firing area, and returns in daylight to search the firing area and fallout zone.
Is it valid if signed online?
In most countries, including the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, the EU (eIDAS) and Canada, an electronic signature is generally valid for an ordinary services contract like this one. FileIt keeps an audit trail and a Certificate of Completion with the signed PDF as evidence of who signed and when.
Can I change the wording?
You fill in the blanks and choose the options on the setup page; optional clauses appear only when you fill them in. If you need different clauses, draft your own document and upload it to FileIt eSignature instead — you can still place the signature boxes in the editor.
Is this template free?
Yes. The template is free to use with the eSignature app in FileIt. The person you send it to doesn't need a FileIt account to sign.
