What is a axe throwing waiver?

Axe throwing venues mix sharp tools, groups of friends and, often, a bar. Most injuries come from bounce-backs, someone walking forward to collect while another person throws, or a thrower who has had one too many. Lane rules, a footwear rule and a clear alcohol policy prevent most of them; a waiver records that every thrower heard them.

This template covers axes and hatchets, with options for throwing knives and other implements. It requires the safety briefing, sets out the lane rules (one thrower per target, no throwing with anyone past the line, never catch a bounce-back, carry blades down), requires closed-toe shoes, and states your alcohol policy: a limit set by staff, or none at all. It explains the real risks, lets staff stop anyone unsafe, records a minimum age with a parent signing for younger throwers if you allow them, and releases the venue to the extent the law allows. The thrower confirms they're sober as they sign.

Tips before you send it

  • Ask each adult in a group to sign their own waiver rather than one person signing for everyone.
  • Check your liquor licence and local rules on serving alcohol where throwing takes place.
  • Inspect axes and targets daily. Dull blades and worn boards make bounce-backs more likely.
  • Ask your insurer whether it requires particular wording or a minimum age.
