What is UDK 151 — Early pension application (tidlig pension)?

UDK 151 is Udbetaling Danmark's paper application for the right to early pension (tidlig pension). Early pension is for people with a long attachment to the labour market. borger.dk explains that it lets you retire 1, 2 or 3 years before your state pension age, depending on how many years you have been on the labour market between age 16 and the end of the qualifying period. Udbetaling Danmark collects most of that work history from registers itself.

The form therefore asks only what the registers can't show: your citizenship and any refugee status, the countries where you lived or worked after age 15, whether you are paid a pension from abroad, and whether you have been self-employed in the last two years. Applying for the right is the first step. Payment is applied for separately later.

Udbetaling Danmark asks people to apply digitally on borger.dk with MitID. The paper form is for people who can't. Who needs to fill out UDK 151 — Early pension application (tidlig pension)?

• People who have been on the Danish labour market for many years and want to retire before state pension age.
• People who are 6 years or less from their state pension age. borger.dk says people born in 1963, 1964, 1967 or 1968 can apply 7 years before.
• Applicants who have lived or worked outside Denmark after age 15, or who aren't Danish citizens, since the form asks about both.
• People who can't apply digitally on borger.dk with MitID, or relatives helping them fill in the paper form.

When to use UDK 151 — Early pension application (tidlig pension)

• In good time before you want to stop working. borger.dk advises applying at least 9 months before you want payment to start, and says you can apply for the right up to 3 years before you can first move to early pension.
• Once you are within the application window for your year of birth. The table on borger.dk shows the age you can apply from for each birth year.
• Before applying for payment. You must first have the right to early pension. borger.dk says you then apply for payment so that Udbetaling Danmark has it at least 2 months before you want payment to start.

What you need before you start

• Your CPR number, address and phone number.
• Your citizenship, the country if you aren't Danish, any second citizenship, and whether you have or have had refugee status.
• The countries where you have lived since age 15, with the periods from date to date (five lines).
• The countries where you have worked since age 15, with the periods, the kind of stay (for example a posting) and whether you also worked in Denmark then (four lines).
• Any pension you are paid from abroad, with the countries, plus documentation of the payments to enclose.
• Whether you have run your own business or been a helping spouse this year or last year.

How to fill out UDK 151 — Early pension application (tidlig pension), step by step

1 Dine oplysninger (your details)

Your name, CPR number, address, phone number, and the country if your address is outside Denmark. The CPR number goes digit by digit into the ten boxes, six before the printed dash and four after.

2 Statsborgerskab (citizenship)

Answer whether you are a Danish citizen, and if not, which country you are a citizen of. Then say whether you have dual citizenship and name the other country, and whether you have or have had refugee status. The guidance explains that you must, among other things, be a Danish citizen, but that special rules can apply to refugees and citizens of other EU countries.

3 Bopæl i udlandet efter det fyldte 15. år (living abroad after age 15)

Say whether you have lived outside Denmark since turning 15. If so, list each country and period, from date to date. The guidance says living or working abroad can affect whether you can get early pension and how much.

4 Arbejde i udlandet efter det fyldte 15. år (work abroad after age 15)

Say whether you have ever worked in other countries. If so, give the country, the period, the kind of stay (for example a posting by a Danish employer, 'udstationering') and whether you also worked in Denmark in that period.

5 Pension fra udlandet (pension from abroad)

Say whether you are paid a pension from abroad and from which countries. The guidance says you can't get early pension if you receive a foreign pension comparable to a Danish disability, senior or state pension, and asks you to enclose documentation of the payment.

6 Selvstændig virksomhed (self-employment)

Say whether you have run your own business or been a helping spouse (medhjælpende ægtefælle) this year or last year.

7 Dato, samtykke og underskrift (date, consent and signature)

By signing you consent to Udbetaling Danmark exchanging information with other authorities, employers, banks and others when needed for your case. Pages 3 to 5 explain what is exchanged and how your data is used. Date the form and sign page 2 by hand.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Applying too late. Processing can take up to 6 months if more documentation is needed, and borger.dk says early pension generally isn't paid retroactively.
• Leaving out periods abroad after age 15, or giving a country without its dates.
• Not enclosing documentation of a foreign pension you are paid.
• Thinking this form starts payment. It only applies for the right. Payment is a separate application.
• Forgetting to sign page 2. The form reminds you on page 1 ('Husk at underskrive ansøgningen på side 2').

After you fill it out

Print the PDF from your FileIt vault, check it, and date and sign page 2 by hand. Post it to Udbetaling Danmark, Kongens Vænge 8, 3400 Hillerød, the 'Send til' address on the form, with any documentation of a foreign pension.

Udbetaling Danmark collects your employment history from registers and works out your seniority (anciennitet). borger.dk says you can expect to hear within 4 weeks, or up to 6 months if more documentation is needed. If you don't reach 3 years of early pension, the letter tells you which years are missing and how to document them.

When you have the right, you apply separately for payment. Keep the filled form and the decision letter in your FileIt vault.
