What is V0100 — Antrag auf Kontenklärung?
Your German pension is calculated from your insurance record (Versicherungsverlauf). Kontenklärung is the process of checking that record and filling its gaps: jobs that are missing, time in the former GDR, abroad or in Poland, sickness, unemployment and education, child-raising, vocational training and more. Form V0100, Antrag auf Kontenklärung, is how you ask the Deutsche Rentenversicherung to do it. The form itself says in its title that it is not a pension application.
The form works as a checklist. After your personal details, each section asks a yes/no question — do you have periods of this kind that are missing from your record? — and for a yes, either asks for dates and details or tells you which supplementary form to enclose, such as V0800 for child-raising, V0410 for credited periods, V0700 for the former GDR or V0720 for Poland. The DRV's explanatory notes are Vordruck V0110; they point out that you are obliged to check your record and provide the evidence.
FileIt explains every question in English with the German wording alongside, prints your answers onto the official PDF — including names and places with Polish or Romanian letters — and saves it in your vault. You sign it by hand and post it yourself. The DRV also accepts the application online.

How to fill out V0100 — Antrag auf Kontenklärung, step by step
1 1 · Angaben zur Person
Your insurance number, names, date and place of birth, sex, nationality, address and phone. Also where you lived on 18 May 1990, your last address in Germany if you now live abroad, and whether and when you moved to Germany from abroad.
2 2 · Antragstellung durch andere Personen
Only if someone applies for you: their name or authority, the capacity they act in (legal representative, guardian, carer or authorised representative), and their address. Enclose the power of attorney or the court's decision.
3 3 · Beitragszeiten im Inland
3.1 lists contribution or employment periods in Germany that are missing: dates, the exact job, the employer and the health insurance fund, in a table with room for six rows (more on V0105). 3.2 asks about periods in the former GDR up to 31.12.1991, which go on V0700.
4 4 · Zeiten im Ausland
Periods abroad, including just living there: membership of a foreign insurance system with its dates, country and number; residence in certain countries after age 15 or 16; expellee or late-repatriate status (V0710 to V0720); and periods in Poland (V0720).
5 5–6 · Anrechnungszeiten and Kinder
Missing credited periods such as sickness, unemployment or education (V0410), incapacity caused by an accident or other people after 30.06.1983 (F870), child-raising periods (V0800), and care of a child in need of care since 1992.
6 7 · Sonstige Angaben
Vocational training with its dates, final exam and type; a right to a civil-service or church pension, with the pension authority; and any pension you already draw or have applied for, in Germany or abroad.
7 8–10 · Documents, declaration and enclosures
Optionally ask for documents in large print, Braille, on CD or as audio. Then sign the declaration that your answers are true and that you had no contribution, credited, child-raising or care-credit periods in the remaining gaps, and list your enclosures. Section 11 is for the office that certifies your documents.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating V0100 as a pension claim — it only clarifies your record.
- Describing jobs vaguely. The form's own example asks for 'Bilanzbuchhalter' rather than 'kaufmännischer Angestellter'.
- Answering yes to a question and forgetting the supplementary form it names (V0410, V0700, V0720, V0800, F870 …).
- Sending no evidence for missing periods.
- Leaving out birth or former names under which older records may be filed.
- Forgetting to sign the declaration on page 6.
After you fill it out
Print the form, check it, and sign it by hand on page 6. Add the supplementary forms and the evidence you listed as enclosures.
Post it to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung — your insurance number is on every page. FileIt does not send it for you.
The DRV checks your record and sends you an updated Versicherungsverlauf or a decision. Keep the application and the reply in your FileIt vault.
