What is a mastermind group agreement?
A mastermind group agreement sets the ground rules a peer group depends on: members show up, contribute and keep what others share confidential. It also makes the money side clear, especially when the fee is paid in instalments.
This template covers the group's purpose, start date, duration, sessions and group size, extras such as an online community or 1-to-1 calls, in-person meeting costs, the facilitator's role, participation expectations, removal for serious breaches, confidentiality between members that continues after leaving, no recordings without everyone's agreement, no guaranteed results and no professional advice, the total fee and an optional payment plan, a cooling-off window for a full refund before the member attends a session, and pro-rata refunds if the facilitator ends the group or the member's place without a breach. FileIt places the signature and date boxes for the facilitator and the member.

Using the mastermind group agreement, step by step
1 Describe the group
Enter the group name, who it's for, the start date, duration, session pattern and group size, plus any extras and in-person meeting costs.
2 Set the fee
Enter the total membership fee and, if members pay over time, the payment plan.
3 Refunds
Set the cooling-off window for a full refund and the governing law.
4 Send to each member
Add the member as a signer and send. Use one agreement per member so everyone signs the same confidentiality rules.
Tips before you send it
- Have every member sign the same terms before the first session, so the confidentiality rules apply to everyone.
- Make clear that a payment plan is a way of paying the total fee, not a cancellable monthly subscription — the template does.
- Consumer law may require a cooling-off period where your members are. Check before setting a short window.
- Raise problems with a member before removing them; the template requires it.
Sign it online in minutes
- Fill in the blanks. Names, dates and amounts go straight into the agreement — the preview shows exactly where.
- Name who signs. Tick “This is me” for your own part. FileIt builds the PDF with every signature, date box on the right line, and you can check or move anything before sending.
- Send it. Each signer gets a secure link and signs from any device — no account needed. The signed PDF, with an audit trail and a Certificate of Completion, is filed in your vault and emailed to everyone.
Mastermind group agreement: frequently asked questions
Can a member stop paying instalments and leave?
The payment plan is a way of paying the total fee, not a monthly subscription. Within the cooling-off window, and before attending a session, the member can cancel for a full refund. After that the fee isn't refunded, unless the facilitator cancels the group or ends the member's place for a reason other than a breach — then the fees for the remaining period are refunded pro rata and no further instalments are due — or consumer law gives a wider right.
Is what members share kept confidential?
Each member agrees to keep confidential what others share, not to record sessions or share screenshots, and that this continues after they leave. The facilitator can't guarantee every member complies, so members decide what they share.
Does the facilitator promise results?
No. The group offers peer support, ideas and accountability, not guaranteed results or legal, financial or other professional advice.
Is it valid if signed online?
In most countries, including the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, the EU (eIDAS) and Canada, an electronic signature is generally valid for an ordinary services contract like this one. FileIt keeps an audit trail and a Certificate of Completion with the signed PDF as evidence of who signed and when.
Can I change the wording?
You fill in the blanks and choose the options on the setup page; optional clauses appear only when you fill them in. If you need different clauses, draft your own document and upload it to FileIt eSignature instead — you can still place the signature boxes in the editor.
Is this template free?
Yes. The template is free to use with the eSignature app in FileIt. The person you send it to doesn't need a FileIt account to sign.
