What is a irrigation services agreement?
An irrigation job is more than laying pipe. Someone has to call for utility locates before digging, the connection to drinking water needs the right backflow protection, and in cold climates the lines must be winterised before the first hard freeze. This agreement covers a new installation, a seasonal service plan for an existing system, or both, depending on what you choose.
For an installation you describe the zones and design plan, and choose the water source and who handles backflow and permits. For a service plan you list the visits, by default a spring startup, a mid-season check and autumn winterisation. Repairs outside the plan, such as damage from mowers or freezing after a declined winterisation, are charged at your stated rate. Set the installation price and payments, the plan price per season, the start date and a workmanship warranty in months.

Tips before you send it
- Backflow rules, testing and permits are set locally, often by the water supplier. Confirm them before you quote.
- Ask the owner about private lines such as lighting cables or dog fences. Public locating services usually don't mark them.
- Book winterisation dates early in the season so you can reach every client before the first hard freeze.
- Some places cap deposits on home improvement work or give a cooling-off period for contracts signed at home.

Irrigation services agreement: frequently asked questions
Can I use it just for seasonal service?
Yes. Answer No to installing a new system and Yes to the service plan. Section 1 then says that no new installation is included, and the installation price is left out.
Who is responsible if the pipes freeze?
If the contractor's plan includes winterisation, the contractor schedules it before the usual first hard freeze. It isn't responsible if the owner asks for a later date, cancels the visit or turns the water back on.
What does the warranty cover?
Leaks at fittings the contractor made, heads that sink or tilt, and wiring faults in its work, for the months you set. Manufacturer warranties on parts pass to the owner.
Can it be signed electronically?
Generally yes. A home services contract like this can be e-signed under laws such as the US ESIGN Act and UETA, eIDAS and UK law. FileIt keeps an audit trail and a Certificate of Completion.
