What is ОБР-0476 funeral costs allowance claim?

When someone receiving a pension from Serbia's Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (Републички фонд за пензијско и инвалидско осигурање, the PIO Fund) dies, whoever paid for the funeral can claim the funeral costs allowance (накнада погребних трошкова). Form ОБР-0476 is the claim. The claimant can be a family member or another private person, a company, or a social care institution, state body or organisation that paid for the funeral.

The Fund's page on cash benefits says the allowance is 85.686 dinars for all categories of pensioners from 1 December 2025. The two-page form asks for the deceased's details, the claimant's details and bank account, where the money should be paid, and which supporting documents you attach, such as the original funeral bill and the fiscal receipt.

Who needs to fill out ОБР-0476 funeral costs allowance claim?

• A family member or other private person who paid the funeral costs of someone receiving a Serbian PIO pension.
• A company that paid for a pensioner's funeral, including a funeral company claiming a refund under an agreement with the Fund.
• A social care institution, state body or organisation that covered the funeral of a pensioner in its care.

When to use ОБР-0476 funeral costs allowance claim

• After the funeral of a person who was receiving a pension from the PIO Fund, once you have the funeral bill and fiscal receipt.
• When a funeral company should receive the allowance directly. In that case the person who ordered the funeral gives their consent on the PIO statement ОБР-1131.

What you need before you start

• The deceased's full name (surname, parent's name, first name), their 13-digit JMBG from their identity card, and the date of death.
• The deceased's personal insurance number (лични број осигураника), if you have it.
• Your own name and JMBG. A legal entity gives its name and 8-digit registration number (матични број).
• Your address as on your identity card. An internally displaced person uses the address on their green card or MUP certificate, and a foreign national the address on their residence certificate.
• The current account number the allowance is paid into, and the bank's name.
• The original funeral bill in the name of whoever paid, and the fiscal receipt (original or copy) or the issuer's statement that it isn't required to use a fiscal till.
• Proof of identity, and a copy of the account card showing the name and account number.
• The death certificate extract and the deceased's last pension slip or cheque, if you have them.

How to fill out ОБР-0476 funeral costs allowance claim, step by step

1 I Подаци о умрлом кориснику пензије

Give the deceased pensioner's surname, parent's name and first name, their 13-digit personal identification number (ЈМБГ) from their identity card, their personal insurance number if known, and the date of death.

2 II Подаци о подносиоцу захтева

Give the claimant's name, or the legal entity's name, and their JMBG or registration number. Then give the address from the valid identity card (or green card, MUP certificate, residence certificate or registered seat), the account number in the form bank-number-check with the bank's name, and a phone number and email.

3 III Исплата

Choose where the allowance is paid. The options are the current account of the person or legal entity that paid for the funeral, a legal entity's account under a refund request, or the account of a social care institution, state body or organisation.

4 IV За слепе и слабовиде особе

Say whether the Fund's letters (notices, summons, decisions) should be printed in Braille. If you say yes, you agree that the Fund may pass them to the organisations it has a Braille printing contract with.

5 V Документа

Tick each document you attach. The list covers the original funeral bill, the fiscal receipt or the issuer's statement, proof of identity, the death certificate extract and the deceased's pension slip (if you have them), a copy of the account card, and the two consent statements used when the money goes to an intermediary or a funeral company.

6 Потпис

Write the place and date, and sign in the yellow box. By signing, you agree that the Fund may process the personal data in the claim and the documents you hand in, and keep them in the case file.

Common mistakes to avoid

• A funeral bill made out to someone other than the claimant. The form asks for the original bill in the name of whoever paid.
• Leaving out the fiscal receipt, or the issuer's statement that it isn't required to use a fiscal till.
• Giving the claimant's JMBG where the deceased's is asked for, or the other way round.
• An incomplete account number. Serbian accounts have 18 digits in full, and FileIt pads the middle part with zeros for you.
• Choosing payment to a funeral company without the consent statement from the person who ordered the funeral.

After you fill it out

Sign the claim and hand it in to the PIO Fund with the documents you ticked in part V. FileIt does not send it anywhere.

Keep the completed PDF and copies of the bill and receipts in your FileIt vault until the allowance has been paid.
