What is UDK 244 — Heating supplement application (varmetillæg)?

UDK 244 is Udbetaling Danmark's paper application for the heating supplement (varmetillæg), a tax-free top-up towards heating costs for people on Danish state pension (folkepension) and for people granted early retirement pension (førtidspension) before 2003. It asks for the address the supplement is for, how many people live there, any lodgers, how the home is heated and what you pay for heating a year.

Udbetaling Danmark asks people to apply digitally on borger.dk, which needs MitID. The pink 'Brug den digitale løsning på borger.dk' stamp on the PDF says so, although it doesn't print. The paper form is there for people who can't use the digital route. It is in Danish, and FileIt explains each question in English with the Danish term alongside.

Who needs to fill out UDK 244 — Heating supplement application (varmetillæg)?

People on Danish state pension (folkepension) whose heating bills are high, whether they rent or own their home.
People who were granted early retirement pension (førtidspension) before 2003.
Pensioners who can't apply digitally on borger.dk with MitID, or relatives helping them fill in the paper form.
Pensioners who let a room to a lodger, since the lodger's share of the heating is deducted and the form asks about it.

When to use UDK 244 — Heating supplement application (varmetillæg)

When your heating costs are above the threshold. borger.dk gives it for 2026 as 6,300 kr. a year for a single person and 9,450 kr. a year for a couple, and says you also need a personal supplement percentage (tillægsprocent) above 0.
Soon after you become eligible or your heating costs rise. The form notes that the supplement can be paid at the earliest from the first day of the month after Udbetaling Danmark receives your application.
After moving to a new home or changing how it is heated. The form asks for the new address and the date you moved in.

If you have lodgers: how many, how many rooms they have, the total rooms in the home, and any amount they pay you each month for heat.

How to fill out UDK 244 — Heating supplement application (varmetillæg), step by step

1 Dine oplysninger (your details)

Your name, CPR number, address and phone number. The CPR number goes digit by digit into the ten boxes, six before the printed dash and four after.

2 Adressen du søger varmetillæg til (the address you are applying for)

The street, number, floor and door, and the postcode and town of the home whose heating the supplement is for. If you moved in recently, give the move-in date (indflytningsdato).

3 Husstanden (household)

The number of people who live in the home, including you. borger.dk explains that when there are more adults over 18 in the household, such as grown-up children, the heating cost is shared between you, so the supplement is lower.

4 Logerende/Lejere (lodgers or tenants)

Only if you let rooms. Give the number of lodgers, the rooms they have, the total rooms in the home, and the monthly amount they pay separately for heat. The part of the heating that relates to the lodger is deducted from your costs.

5 Varme og energi (heating and energy)

Tick how the home is heated: district heating or a central plant, oil, electricity, gas, or heat pump / ground heat, or describe another kind such as a wood stove. If the heating is electricity or gas, also tick whether your household energy is electricity or gas.

6 Varmeudgift (heating costs)

What you pay for heating a year, and the month your energy or district-heating company's statement year starts. For oil, wood or pellets the form says to write January. If you are unsure of the month, the form suggests asking your heating supplier or landlord.

7 Samtykke og underskrift (consent and signature)

By signing you consent to Udbetaling Danmark exchanging information with other authorities, employers, banks and others when needed for your case. Date the form and sign it by hand.

Common mistakes to avoid

Forgetting the documentation. The form says you must enclose documentation of the last three years' heating costs, or of the shorter time you have lived there.
Ticking household energy when the home isn't heated by electricity or gas. The form says to fill it in only in that case.
Leaving out lodgers or other adults in the household. Both affect how much you can get.
Counting service agreements, chimney sweeping or boiler repairs as heating costs. borger.dk says only the heating itself is covered.
Forgetting to sign. The form isn't valid without your signature.
