What is a uGC creator agreement?
A UGC (user-generated content) creator agreement is for brands that pay creators to film natural, customer-style content that the brand publishes itself — in paid ads, on its social accounts, website or email. Unlike an influencer deal, the creator does not post to their own followers, so the value is in the files and the rights to use them, and the contract must say exactly where, where in the world and for how long the brand may run them.
This template covers the deliverables and technical format, the brief, due date and raw footage, whether product is sent free, returned or reimbursed, and the number of revision rounds. It grants a usage licence for the channels, territory and period you choose — including the creator's likeness — with optional whitelisting (ads run from the creator's handle), optional exclusivity, a monthly extension fee and portfolio use. It sets honest-content and disclosure rules with the brand responsible for product claims, the fee and payment timing, cancellation, the creator's promises about music and permissions, and ending the agreement.

Tips before you send it
- Price paid-ad usage and whitelisting separately from organic use — they are worth more to the brand.
- Supply any product claims in writing; the agreement makes the brand responsible for substantiating them.
- Use music only from licensed libraries the brand or platform provides.
- Put a calendar reminder on the end of the usage period so paid ads are switched off on time.

UGC creator agreement: frequently asked questions
Does the creator have to post the content?
No. This agreement is for content the brand publishes. The creator is not required to post it, and may show it in a portfolio as you choose.
What is whitelisting?
It lets the brand run ads under the creator's name or handle through the platform's partnership tools. In this agreement it is optional and limited to approved content for the usage period; the brand may not post or comment as the creator.
What happens when the usage period ends?
The brand stops placing new ads and posts. Organic posts already published may stay up, but paid ads must be switched off unless the brand extends the period.
Is a document signed electronically legally binding?
In most countries, including the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, the EU (eIDAS) and Canada, an electronic signature is generally valid for an ordinary agreement like this one. FileIt keeps an audit trail and a Certificate of Completion with the signed PDF as evidence of who signed and when.
Is this template free?
Yes. The template is free to use with the eSignature app in FileIt. The creator doesn't need a FileIt account to sign.
