What is CAE family allowance application (allocation familiale)?
The 'Demande d'allocation familiale' is the application form of the Caisse pour l'avenir des enfants (CAE, Zukunftskeess) for the Luxembourg family allowance. Guichet.lu explains that each child is entitled, until the end of their schooling (or 25 at the latest), to a monthly allowance from the month of birth and a school-start allowance from age 6. The application can be made online through the MyGuichet.lu assistant, or by post with this paper form.
The form has a column for the applicant and one for the spouse or partner: name, Luxembourg social security number (matricule), nationality, family situation, address, any previous residence outside Luxembourg, activity and employer. Then come the person with custody of the children if the parents are separated or divorced, the bank account for payment, up to six children, and whether family allowances are or were paid for them outside Luxembourg.
FileIt explains each part in English, pre-fills the applicant's details from the People in your FileIt vault, checks the matricule, IBAN, BIC and dates, and prints the answers into the CAE's own PDF, accented and Polish, Romanian or Portuguese letters included. The finished form is saved in your vault, ready to sign and post.

How to fill out CAE family allowance application (allocation familiale), step by step
1 Demandeur / demanderesse and Conjoint / partenaire
One column each: name, matricule (13 digits starting with the date of birth as year, month, day), nationality, family situation with the date it began (depuis le), address and phone number, any previous country of residence with the date you lived there until (jusqu'au), activity, and employer. Tick the boxes that match your situation.
2 Custody of the children
If you are separated or divorced, give the name and address of the person who has custody of the children.
3 Coordonnées bancaires — bank details
Whose account the allowance goes to (Madame or Monsieur) and the holder's name, the IBAN, the BIC and the bank's name. The form says the account is used for all family benefits; attach a RIB (copies of bank cards aren't accepted). Payments can only go to a current or sight account.
4 Enfants — the children
For up to six children: name, date of birth (year, month, day), relationship (biological child, adopted child, spouse's child, grandchild, niece / nephew …), nationality, whether the child lives in your household and, if so, since when.
5 Prestations familiales versées par un autre organisme — benefits from another body
Whether the children receive or have received family allowances outside Luxembourg. If so: the body that pays or paid them, its address and country, the person who receives or received them, the reference number, whether payment is still running and, if not, until when.
6 Signatures
Place and date, then the signatures of the applicant and of the spouse / partner. The form recalls that fraudulently obtaining benefits is punishable under article 312 of the Social Security Code and article 496 of the Penal Code.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Leaving out the RIB, or sending a copy of a bank card instead.
- Giving a savings account: the allowance is paid only to a current or sight account.
- Not saying that family allowances are already paid abroad for the children.
- Forgetting the certificate of residence or household composition as a cross-border worker.
- Only one partner signing.
- Not telling the CAE later about a change, such as a separation, a move abroad or a child starting work; page 3 lists what to report.
After you fill it out
Print the finished PDF from your FileIt vault. The applicant and the spouse / partner sign on page 2, by hand or through FileIt's eSignature.
Post it with the supporting documents to the Caisse pour l'avenir des enfants, B.P. 394, L-2013 Luxembourg. FileIt does not submit anything for you. The CAE can ask for more documents, which can be sent by post or through MyGuichet.lu.
Keep the filled copy in your FileIt vault, with each child's documents, and keep pages 3 and 4 of the form: they list the changes you must report to the CAE.
