What is DGT Modelo 03 — Driving licence procedures?
Modelo 03 (Trámites de conductores) is the form the Spanish traffic authority, the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT), uses for driving-licence procedures at its offices. One form covers renewing a Spanish licence (prórroga de vigencia), a duplicate after loss, damage or theft or because your name, DNI/NIF or other details changed, an international driving permit, a change of address, exchanging a licence from an EU country, another country or a military or police licence (canje), registering or renewing an EU licence, and replacing a licence. The current edition is MOD. 03/2026-05-ES.
It asks for your identity details, your address for notifications, the procedure you want and, for an exchange, registration or replacement, the details of the licence you hold. The form notes that the DGT checks your identity, padrón registration and legal residence electronically. By signing you also declare that you are not barred from driving by a court, that your licence is not suspended, and that you hold no licence of the same class from another EU or EEA country.
FileIt explains every box of Modelo 03 in English, checks DNI and NIE letters, and prints your answers neatly onto the DGT's official PDF, including names with letters such as ł, ș or ü. The finished form is saved in your FileIt vault. FileIt does not submit anything to the DGT and does not pay the fee: you print the form and take it to a Jefatura de Tráfico, where you sign it.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Putting two procedures on one form. The instructions ask for one application per procedure.
- Forgetting the fee, or the photo slip for a renewal.
- Leaving out the licence details for an exchange or replacement.
- Signing the declaration without checking it: it says you hold no licence of the same class from another EU or EEA country and that no licence of yours was suspended or cancelled in another member state.
After you fill it out
Print the PDF from your FileIt vault and take it to a Jefatura de Tráfico with your ID, the fee paid and the documents for your procedure.
Sign it there by hand under 'Firma del interesado'.
Keep the form and the receipt in your FileIt vault, and add your new licence and its expiry date so FileIt can remind you before it runs out.
