What is MR04 Statement of satisfaction of a charge?
When a company pays off a loan secured by a mortgage, debenture or other charge registered at Companies House, the charge stays on the public record until a statement of satisfaction is registered. Form MR04 is that statement, under section 859L of the Companies Act 2006. A limited liability partnership uses LL MR04.
For a charge created before 6 April 2013 you give its creation date, charge number, the instrument and the property charged (Part A). For a charge created on or after that date you give its 12-character charge code (Part B). In Part C you confirm whether the debt was paid in full or in part, and the person delivering the statement gives their name, address and interest in the charge, and signs.
FileIt shows only the part that applies, fits your answers into the form's boxes and prints Companies House's own MR04 PDF. Companies House also takes MR04 through its WebFiling service. FileIt never files anything for you.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Filling in Part A for a charge created on or after 6 April 2013, or Part B for an older one.
- Ticking 'in full' when only part of the debt has been paid: once registered in full, no other forms can be registered against the charge.
- Sending one form for several charges instead of one form for each.
- A signature in typeface: Companies House accepts a manuscript or automatically generated signature.
- Using MR04 for an LLP, which needs LL MR04.

No. Companies House says filing an MR04 in full doesn't remove the charge from the company's record, but its status is shown as fully satisfied.

The chargor (the company), the chargee (the lender), or a third party acting for either of them, such as a solicitor or accountant. They give their name and address in C2 and sign C3.
Where do I find the charge code?
On the certificate of registration issued when the charge was registered. It's the unique reference the registrar allocated.

Companies House's guidance says the charge number in A2 isn't a mandatory field.
Can a mistake on MR04 be corrected later?
Companies House says an MR04 can't be informally corrected under section 1075 of the Companies Act 2006, so check it carefully before you send it.
