What is Halbjahresscheck (Minijob im Privathaushalt)?

If your household helper's pay changes from month to month — more hours in summer, fewer in winter — you don't have to send a new Haushaltsscheck each time. The Minijob-Zentrale's Halbjahresscheck (form 09H) collects the gross pay for every month of one calendar half-year on a single page.

You give your details and your helper's, then each month the job existed with its pay in whole euros, including months with nothing paid, and say whether the job has ended. The notes on page 2 ask for the form by 30 June or 31 December, and contributions are collected on 31 July and 31 January.

Who needs to fill out Halbjahresscheck (Minijob im Privathaushalt)?

  • Households that told the Minijob-Zentrale on the Haushaltsscheck that the pay varies from month to month.
  • Employers who switched from a fixed to a varying pay with the Änderungsscheck.
  • Households whose helper had a month without pay, such as unpaid leave, which still has to be reported.

When to use Halbjahresscheck (Minijob im Privathaushalt)

  • For January to June, by 30 June, so the contributions due on 31 July can be worked out.
  • For July to December, by 31 December, for the debit on 31 January.
  • When the job ends during a half-year, with the end date and the pay up to then.
  • The notes allow a careful estimate for June or December if you don't know the exact pay yet.

  • Your household employer number (Betriebsnummer) — the notes say it must be given.
  • Your helper's pension insurance number, or their date of birth.
  • The gross pay for each month, rounded to whole euros (up from 50 cents).
  • The end date, if the job has ended.

How to fill out Halbjahresscheck (Minijob im Privathaushalt), step by step

1 Arbeitgeber/-in

Your surname, first name and the 8-digit Betriebsnummer the Minijob-Zentrale gave your household.

2 Beschäftigte/-r

Your helper's names and pension insurance number. If the number isn't known, the date of birth instead.

3 Beschäftigungszeitraum und Arbeitsentgelt

Up to six lines, each with the month (MM), the year after the printed 20 (JJ) and the monthly pay as four digits, like 0120 for 120 euros. Months of one half-year only — April to September would need two forms.

4 Nullmonate

A month in which the job existed but you paid nothing — unpaid leave, a long illness after continued pay ended — is reported with 0000.

5 What counts as pay

The gross amount before tax and before the helper's own pension share. Free meals and other benefits in kind don't count, and hourly or weekly pay must be added up to a monthly figure.

6 Ist die Beschäftigung beendet?

Tick no, or yes with the date the job ended. FileIt checks that the end date falls in the half-year and that no pay is listed after it.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Mixing months from both half-years on one form.
  • Leaving out a month without pay instead of reporting it as 0.
  • Entering an hourly or weekly wage instead of the monthly total.
  • Forgetting the Betriebsnummer.
  • Sending it late, which the notes say can mean late-payment surcharges.
  • Using it to register a helper, which only the Haushaltsscheck does.
