What is G0200 — Kinderrehabilitation?

The Deutsche Rentenversicherung pays rehabilitation for children and young people whose illness affects them so much that school, and later work, are at risk. The form says children of insured people and of pensioners can get it, and so can children who receive an orphan's pension. The DRV's page says it covers travel, accommodation, meals, medical care and therapies without a co-payment.

Form G0200 is the paper application. Over six pages it asks about the insured parent and the child, whether an accompanying person should come along, up to three preferred clinics (optional), the child's health insurance and paediatrician, recognised accidents or other damage, school or training for a child of 18 or more, the parent's contributions in Germany and abroad, a representative if someone applies on your behalf, communication aids, and the consent to release the child's medical information.

FileIt walks you through it in English with the German wording alongside, skips what doesn't apply, prints your answers on the official PDF — names with Polish or Romanian letters included — and saves it in your vault. The treating doctor's report for children's rehabilitation (Befundbericht G0612) is a separate form that goes with it.

How the child is related to that person, then the child's name, date of birth, sex, nationality and address.

3 3 and 4

Whether an accompanying person is requested, and your optional choice of up to three clinics in order of preference.

4 5 and 6

The child's health insurance fund (statutory or private) and the child's treating doctor.

5 7 Weitere Angaben zum Kind

Orphan's pension, a civil-service-type job, health problems recognised after an accident or other damage, applications pending, and whether someone else caused the problem — then form F0870 and any damages claims.

6 8 and 9

For a child of 18 or older: school, training, voluntary service or disability. Then the parent's German and foreign contributions (G0205 for current foreign contributions) and civil-service status.

7 10 to 12

A representative applying on your behalf (enclose the power of attorney or court decision), communication aids or recognised aids, and documents in large print, Braille or audio.

8 13 Erklärung

The consent to release the child's medical information, signed by the child or legal representative; then the insured person's and the child's signatures, each with place and date.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Sending the application without the doctor's report G0612.
  • Requesting an accompanying person for a teenager without a medical reason.
  • Leaving out an accident caused by someone else, which needs form F0870.
  • Letting an authorised representative (Bevollmächtigter) sign the medical consent — the form says that isn't enough.
  • Filling in part 8 for a child under 18.

After you fill it out

Print the form and sign it by hand on page 6: the consent, the insured person and the child or legal representative.

Send it with the doctor's report to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung. The DRV also takes the application online. FileIt doesn't send it.

Keep the copy in your FileIt vault. If you named no clinic, the form says the Rentenversicherung suggests up to four.

The form says children of insured people and of pensioners, and children who receive an orphan's pension. Part 1 is the insured person, usually a parent.

Does it cost anything?

The DRV's page on children's rehabilitation says it covers travel, accommodation, meals, medical care and therapies without a co-payment.

Can a parent come along?

You can request an accompanying person in part 3. The form says that for a child of 12 or older the need must be justified medically.

Can I choose the clinic?

Yes, part 4 lets you name up to three clinics in order of preference. It is voluntary; without a choice the Rentenversicherung suggests up to four suitable clinics.

Who signs?

The insured person signs the declaration, and the child or their legal representative signs the medical consent and the declaration. If a court-appointed carer signs because the child can't consent, the form asks for evidence of that.
