What is a errand and concierge services agreement?
Errand services are small jobs built on big trust. A client hands over their grocery list, their dry-cleaning ticket, sometimes their credit card or their front door key — and for older clients, a family member may be arranging it all from another city. Money and access are where misunderstandings happen, so they're worth settling on paper.
This agreement lists the typical tasks and what's not included (such as personal care or driving the client), and an optional regular schedule. It sets an hourly rate billed in 15-minute steps, a minimum per visit, mileage and a same-day surcharge, and how often you invoice. For purchases, you choose whether you pay and get repaid, use the client's card, or draw on a prepaid errand fund, with a price limit above which you check first and every receipt handed over. If you hold a key or entry code, there are clear rules for keeping it safe. It also covers care of belongings, confidentiality, vehicle insurance, cancellation and ending at any time.

Tips before you send it
- Photograph each receipt and send it the same day. It builds trust faster than anything else.
- Keep keys on a tag with a number, never a name or address, and keep a list of which number is which somewhere separate.
- When a relative pays for errands for someone else, agree who you take instructions from — the client, the relative, or both.
- Check your car insurance covers using your vehicle for paid errands. Many personal policies don't.

Errand and concierge services agreement: frequently asked questions
How should an errand runner charge?
This template uses an hourly rate counted from leaving for the first errand to finishing the last, in 15-minute steps, with an optional minimum per visit, mileage and same-day surcharge. Purchases, parking and delivery fees are added at cost.
Can I use the client's credit card?
Yes, if the client chooses that option. You use it only for their errands, never ask for a PIN or banking password, and return it when asked. You can also pay and get repaid, or draw on a prepaid errand fund.
What if I lose the client's house key?
You tell the client straight away and pay for reasonable re-keying. The agreement also says you only enter to do a requested task and never let anyone else in.
Can a family member sign for their parent?
Yes. A relative can sign as the client and name the person the errands are for; they're then responsible for paying. Electronic signatures are generally valid for this kind of service agreement in the US (ESIGN Act and UETA), the UK, the EU (eIDAS) and Canada, and FileIt keeps an audit trail with the signed PDF.
Is this template free?
Yes. It's free with FileIt's eSignature app, and your client signs from a link without an account.
