What is SKV 4639 - Notification of changes (business registration)?

Once a business is registered with Skatteverket (the Swedish Tax Agency), changes go on SKV 4639, the notification of changes (ändringsanmälan). Changes include switching between F-tax and FA-tax, a new VAT reporting period or accounting method, new business activities, new owners of a close company or new contact details. When a business stops employing staff, closes or is sold, the same form deregisters F-tax, employer registration or VAT.

The form points anyone with a Swedish e-ID to the e-service at verksamt.se. The paper form is for businesses and representatives without one, and Skatteverket publishes it in English. FileIt uses the English edition and shows each part only if you switch it on, so you fill in only what changes.

FileIt checks identity and organisation numbers, makes sure the boxes ticked at the top match the parts you fill in and adds up the owners' shares. It also checks the rules printed on the form: activity shares must total 100 %, the accrual method applies above SEK 3 million in sales, and monthly reporting by the 26th applies above SEK 40 million. It then prints your answers into Skatteverket's PDF, which is saved in your vault. You sign it by hand and post it. FileIt never sends it.

How to fill out SKV 4639 - Notification of changes (business registration), step by step

1 Company and type of change

Give the business's name and number, then tick what the notification is for: changing registered details, deregistering certain details, or (when the business has ceased or been sold) deregistering details.

2 F-tax, employer and VAT changes

Switch on only the parts that change: the F-tax/FA-tax switch, the reporting period for employer contributions, the VAT reporting period and deadline, and the VAT accounting method. Give the taxable amount or annual sales and the date each change applies from.

3 Activities and owners

List up to three business activities with their shares of sales (totalling 100 %) and SNI codes, and up to five owners of a close company. FileIt adds up the shares.

4 Contact details

A new visiting address, a special address for tax account statements or a new phone number, each with the date it applies from. Companies registered with Bolagsverket change their postal address there.

5 Deregistration and VAT exemption

Tick F-tax/FA-tax, employer or VAT deregistration with the reason and the earliest date. If sales are below the VAT threshold, you can ask for the VAT exemption here too.

6 Contact person and signature

Name a contact person, then date the form and print the signatory's name. The applicant or an authorised signatory signs by hand.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Backdating a deregistration. Registrations end on the day Skatteverket approves it at the earliest.
  • Activity shares that don't add up to 100 %.
  • Choosing the cash method with annual sales above SEK 3 million.
  • Forgetting to change the preliminary tax when closing a business. Use SKV 4314 (individuals) or SKV 4313 (legal entities).
  • Sending only one page. The form asks you to submit all pages.
  • Changing a registered company's postal address here instead of with Bolagsverket.

After you fill it out

Print both pages and sign by hand.

Post them, with any attachments, to Skatteverkets inläsningscentral, FE 4600, 105 81 Stockholm. FileIt doesn't send it.

If you're closing the business, consider a new preliminary income tax return (SKV 4314 or SKV 4313), and deregister your cash register at skatteverket.se/kassaregister.

Skatteverket's form page notes that the preliminary tax isn't changed automatically when you close a business.
