What is RP 5059 - Unemployment benefit increase for families?

RP 5059 (Requerimento de Majoração do montante do Subsídio de Desemprego, do Subsídio por Cessação de Atividade ou do Subsídio por Cessação de Atividade Profissional) asks Portugal's Social Security (Segurança Social) to increase the benefit you already receive because of the children in your household. It covers the unemployment benefit (subsídio de desemprego) and the benefits for the self-employed and company officers whose activity has ended.

The form has three parts: your details and, if you are married or in a de facto union, your spouse's or partner's; the household (agregado familiar) with every member's name, NISS, NIF, date of birth and relationship to you; and the declaration you sign. Segurança Social says the request should preferably go through Segurança Social Direta; the paper form can be filled in on a computer and handed in or posted to a service desk.

FileIt explains each part in English, fills in your name and date of birth from your vault, checks every NIF, and prints your answers into the official PDF, which is saved in your vault. You sign it and hand it in yourself. FileIt never sends it.

  • Leaving a column empty for a household member - the form says every column is compulsory.

  • Typing a NIF with a wrong digit - FileIt checks the check digit for you.
  • Forgetting the spouse's details when you are married or in a de facto union.
  • Not reporting later changes to the household within 10 working days.

After you fill it out
