What is Kela SV 8e - sickness allowance claim?
Form SV 8e is Kela's English claim for sickness allowances (sairauspäiväraha). It covers the sickness allowance and the partial sickness allowance, the allowances for self-employed people insured under YEL or MYEL during the waiting period, and the sickness allowance on account of an infectious disease or of donating human cells, tissue or an organ. As printed on the form, you claim within 2 months of the start of your incapacity for work.
The four claim pages ask for your details and bank account, the benefit and the period of illness, what your work consists of and what you did just before falling ill, how the illness affects your work capacity, rehabilitation plans, sick pay and foreign compensation, facts that change how the allowance is calculated, part-time arrangements for the partial allowance and the details of an infectious-disease decision. When the incapacity follows an accident, an occupational disease, a traffic accident or a crime, the two-page Accident report SV 143e in the same PDF is filled in too.
FileIt guides you through SV 8e in plain English, checks your personal identity code and IBAN, shows the partial-allowance, infectious-disease and accident parts only when they apply, copies your details into the accident report, and prints everything into Kela's own PDF, saved in your vault. As printed on the form, you can file online at www.kela.fi/english or post it to Kela, PL 10, 00056 KELA. FileIt never sends anything to Kela.

When must I claim sickness allowance?
The form says within 2 months of the onset of your incapacity for work or absence from work.

Does FileIt send the claim to Kela?
No. FileIt fills Kela's PDF and saves it in your vault; you file it with Kela yourself.
