What is a professional organizing services agreement?
Organising work is personal. A professional organiser sees a client's papers, wardrobe, family keepsakes and sometimes years of avoided decisions. A clear agreement builds trust by setting out what the organiser will and won't do, and above all that nothing leaves the house without the client's say-so.
This template covers the rooms and spaces, what the client wants to achieve, the planned sessions and an honest note that time depends on volume and decisions. It confirms the client makes every keep, donate or discard decision, and sets out how the organiser handles cash, documents, medicines and valuables it finds. You choose how storage products are bought, whether you take donations or the client arranges them, the fee and how it's charged, an optional minimum session length and travel charge, and when payment is due. Rescheduling, late cancellation, confidentiality, before-and-after photos that never identify the client, and the organiser's right to pause in unsafe conditions round it off.

Tips before you send it
- Agree category decisions early, such as 'all expired coupons go'. They speed sessions up without overriding the client's control.
- Keep a set-aside box for anything valuable or sentimental you find, and go through it together at the end of each session.
- Ask before photographing, and keep marketing photos free of faces, addresses and papers. The template requires separate consent for marketing use.
- Know your local charities' rules. Many won't take mattresses, car seats or electricals, so plan for those items.

Professional organizing services agreement: frequently asked questions
Can the organiser throw things away?
Only with the client's approval, which can be given for a whole category. Every item belongs to the client, who makes every keep, donate, sell or discard decision.
Who pays for bins, boxes and storage?
You choose: the client buys from a suggested list, or the organiser buys with approval and recharges at cost, with or without shopping time. Receipts are always given.
What if a session is cancelled at short notice?
If the client cancels with less notice than you set, half the session is charged, unless it's illness or an emergency. If the organiser cancels, there's no charge and a new date is offered.
Is everything kept confidential?
Yes. The organiser keeps confidential everything seen in the home, including papers, finances and family matters, unless the law requires disclosure or someone is at risk of harm.
Can my client sign online?
Yes. The client signs from the email link without an account. E-signatures are generally valid for a services agreement like this in the US, UK, EU and Canada, and FileIt keeps an audit trail with the signed PDF.
