What is RSK 14.10 — Application for a certificate?

RSK 14.10 is Skatturinn's (Iceland Revenue and Customs') English application for a certificate. You use it when a bank, landlord, foreign tax authority, embassy or employer asks for official proof from the Icelandic tax administration — for example a certificate of your income for particular income years, of your income, capital and liabilities, of your fiscal (tax) residence in Iceland for a receiving country, of child benefits paid, or of VAT or employer registration.

The form is short: who is applying (and your spouse, if the certificate is for both of you), which certificates you need, the language — English, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian — a free-text explanation of why you need it, and whether you want a paper original. Certificates are issued in ISK and sent to your Digital Mailbox on island.is. The 12.5.2026 edition prints a fee of ISK 3,800, paid through the Unpaid bills section of any Icelandic online bank.

FileIt walks you through the form, pre-fills your name and email from the People in your FileIt vault, copies your kennitala into the payment box, and prints everything into Skatturinn's own PDF — Icelandic letters and other accented names included. The finished form is saved in your vault, and you can sign it by hand or with FileIt's optional e-signature before emailing it to Skatturinn yourself.

What’s on RSK 14.10 — Application for a certificate

The 2026 edition has 1 page. FileIt asks for it in 3 parts, and it is signed by Applicant:

  1. ApplicantApplicant
  2. Type of certificate and languageApplicant
  3. Original, date and signatureApplicant

How to fill out RSK 14.10 — Application for a certificate, step by step

1 Name, ID number and contact details

Your name and ID number (kennitala), plus your spouse's name and ID number only if the application is also for your spouse. Then your address, municipality, telephone and email.

FileIt checks that each kennitala has 10 digits and that you and your spouse are entered as two different people.

2 Type of certificate

Tick every certificate you need: Children's benefits; Income, with the income year(s); Income, capital and liabilities, with the income year(s); Fiscal residence, with the receiving country; VAT; or Registration of Employers. You can tick more than one on the same form.

3 Language

Choose the language of the certificate: English, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian.

4 Further explanation and reason of the request

Explain what the certificate is for and anything that helps Skatturinn prepare the right document — for example who asked for it, which tax treaty or authority it is for, or which period matters most.

5 Do you need the original?

The certificate is sent to your Digital Mailbox on island.is. Choose whether you don't need a paper original, will pick it up at the IRC office at Katrínartún 6, Reykjavík, or want it sent to your legal address.

6 Date, signature and payment

Date and sign the form. The fee printed on this edition is ISK 3,800 (according to Article 14, Act no 88/1991). You pay it through the Unpaid bills section of any Icelandic online bank; the invoice is available in your Digital Mailbox on island.is under the applicant's ID number, which FileIt copies into the payment box.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Forgetting to tick a certificate type — the form can't be processed without one.
  • Leaving out the income year(s) for an income certificate, or the receiving country for a fiscal-residence certificate.
  • Adding a spouse's name without their kennitala (or the other way round).
  • Choosing the wrong language — check what the receiving authority accepts before you apply.
  • Not checking your Digital Mailbox on island.is, where both the invoice and the certificate arrive.
  • Sending the form unsigned.

After you fill it out

Sign the form — by hand, or with FileIt's optional e-signature — and email it to [email protected], as printed on the form. FileIt doesn't send it for you.

Pay the invoice through the Unpaid bills section of your Icelandic online bank when it appears in your Digital Mailbox on island.is. The certificate is then sent to the same Digital Mailbox, and a paper original follows only if you asked for one.

Keep the filled PDF in your FileIt vault, and file the certificate next to it when it arrives, so you have both to hand the next time someone asks.
